These terms explain how PawHome works and what we and you agree to when you use it. PawHome is run by , 162 Richmond Street, Charlottetown, PE C1A 1H9, Canada ("we", "us"). By creating an account, ordering a tag or using a pet page, you agree to these terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. What PawHome is
PawHome gives each pet an online profile page that can be opened by scanning the QR code or NFC chip on its tag. If a pet goes missing, the owner can mark it lost: its page then shows a LOST alert and the owner's contact buttons, and it appears on the public lost-pets board. Anyone who finds the pet can send the owner a message and, if they choose, their location.
PawHome helps people contact you. It does not track your pet. Tags have no GPS, battery or tracking. A location is only shared when someone finds your pet, scans the tag and chooses to send it.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account or buy anything.
- Give us accurate details and keep your contact information up to date. Alerts can only reach you if your email and phone are correct.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile menu.
3. Your pet pages and what the public sees
- A pet page can be seen by anyone who scans the tag or has its link.
- While your pet is safe, you can hide your phone number, email and address. Finders can still reach you through the message form.
- When you mark a pet lost, its page shows your phone and WhatsApp buttons, the last-seen area and any reward you set, and the pet is listed on the public lost-pets board until you mark it found.
- You are responsible for what you put on your pet pages, including photos and medical notes. Only upload photos you have the right to use, and don't post anything unlawful, misleading or offensive.
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission to store it and show it as described here, only to run PawHome.
4. Plans and payments
- Free: one pet, free for as long as you have an account.
- Paid plans (currently Standard and Rescue / Shelter) add more pets and extra features. Current prices are shown on the pricing page and in your account. Prices are in Canadian dollars, and applicable taxes may be added.
- Yearly: paid in advance for one year. It does not renew automatically, and you are never charged again without choosing to renew.
- Monthly: paid every month and renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Manage Subscription: you keep the plan until the end of the month you have paid for, and we don't refund part of a month. If a payment fails, Stripe retries; if it keeps failing, the plan ends and your account moves to Free.
- Your plan's end or renewal date is shown in your account.
- When a paid plan ends and isn't renewed, your account moves to the Free plan. Your pet pages stay online so a lost pet's tag keeps working, but some paid features stop and you can't add pets beyond the Free limit.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe on its own secure checkout page. We never see or store your card number. You can also pay by e-Transfer or invoice; your plan or order starts once we confirm the payment.
- Refunds: if you're not happy with a paid plan, contact us within 14 days of paying for a full refund. After that, plan payments are not refundable, but you keep the plan until it ends.
5. Pet tags
- Tags are sold at the price shown when you order, plus any shipping or taxes shown at checkout.
- A tag links to your pet's page. It keeps working as long as that pet page exists, even on the Free plan.
- If a tag arrives damaged or doesn't scan, tell us within 30 days and we'll replace it. Tags wear out over time, so please check that yours still scans.
- NFC only works on phones that support it; the QR code works on almost any phone with a camera.
6. No guarantee your pet will be found
We work hard to keep PawHome running and alerts arriving, but we can't promise that anyone will find or return your pet, that a finder will scan the tag, or that every alert, email or text message will be delivered on time. PawHome is not an emergency service. If your pet is missing, also contact your local animal shelter, animal control and, where relevant, the police, and keep your pet's microchip details up to date.
7. If you found a pet
- Sending a report is free and doesn't need an account. Your name, phone and location are optional and only go to the pet's owner.
- Please only send genuine reports. Don't use PawHome to harass an owner or to ask for money in exchange for a pet.
- If a pet seems hurt or in danger, contact a vet or animal control first.
8. Fair use
Don't misuse PawHome. For example, don't:
- create pages for animals you don't own or look after, or pretend to be someone else;
- post false lost-pet reports or scam messages, including reward scams;
- collect other people's contact details from pet pages or the lost-pets board;
- try to break, overload or get around the security of the service.
We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we'll tell you why first.
9. Changes and availability
We may change or improve PawHome and these terms. If we make an important change, we'll tell you by email or in your account before it takes effect. The service may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
10. Liability
PawHome is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the loss, injury or death of a pet, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be excluded.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Prince Edward Island and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
